The paper presents a semianalytical theory of the libration of the moon obtained by the application of the Lie transform method to the Hamiltonian of the problem: free rotation of a rigid moon about its center of mass plus perturbations due to the earth and sun. The variations of the constants of inertia are taken into account, and the motion of the center of mass is described by the Chapront-Touze's (1980) solution. The Hamiltonian is brought into a well-suited form and the generators of the different transformations are applied to the usual libration parameters p1, p2, and tau. These series are computed with a precision of 0.001 arcsec and comparisons are made with the results obtained by Eckardt (1976, 1981) and Migus (1977).
