Attention is given to the Lindblad theory of density waves in spiral
galaxies, noting its reception by Marochnik and Suchkov (1974), Parenago
(1948), Toomre (1977) and Lin and Shu (1964). Several propositions of
Lindblad's theory are stipulated in order to trace the analogy between
the Lindblad and Lin-Shu theories.
