A search for type II OH/IR maser IR counterparts in sensitivity-limited radio surveys shows that the IR sources are largely very red, with K-L colors greater than +7, with a general trend toward higher efficiency in the conversion of bolometric luminosity into OH luminosity with increasing K-L color. The OH peak velocity separation delta-V is found to correlate with intrinsic bolometric luminosity, increasing luminosity corresponding to increasing delta-V. The sources showing the low H2O, high-CO absorption band strengths that are typical of M supergiants usually have high delta-Vs and high luminosities, consistent with their identification as extreme Population I M supergiants. The low-delta-V, low-luminosity sources have absorption band strengths typical of Mira variables.
