The fact that the observation of an expanding double radio-source through a gravitational lens system yields an apparent epoch of zero separation which is different for the different images, gives a direct measurement of the time delay between images. It is shown that, for a constant velocity of expansion at the source, observations at only two epochs are theoretically necessary. Although this method may at the present time or in the foreseeable future be applicable only to superluminal radio sources, the time delay would be evaluated with a probable error of several weeks. Such an estimation would be invaluable for subsequent photometric observations.
