Forbidden O III 5007A emission line profiles have been measured for a sample of fifteen QSOs using velocity resolutions from 115 to 150 km/s. The QSOs observed were chosen from among those with both magnitudes smaller than 17 and redshifts smaller than 0.7, taking into account the weather and wavelength range available at the time of the observations. The observed line widths vary from 300 to 800 km/s and their distribution is similar to that seen in Seyfert 1 galaxies. However, the preferred asymmetry in the forbidden O III profile of Seyfert galaxies noted by several observers does not appear to be present to such an extent in the QSOs. Possible explanations for the observed difference are considered.
