Several static NLTE model atmospheres with different abundances either for the heavy elements or for helium have been computed using the code of Mihalas (1972). It is found that variations in the elemental abundances of the exciting stars lead only to minor changes in the optical emission spectra of the surrounding nebulae, contrary to what has been argued on the basis of LTE calculations. However, it is noted that a serious defect in the model atmospheres computed with the Mihalas code is that they do not include the heavy element line blanketing.
