Early results from the GALEX mission have been used to measure the star formation rate density at z ˜ 1. Using large samples of spectroscopic redshifts from the Team Keck Redshift Survey and other surveys of faint galaxies, we have refined the estimate of the star formation rate density at z ˜ 1. The new samples of redshifts have better velocity resolution than the samples used in our previous work, and we have taken advantage of this increased accuracy to assign galaxies to the field, groups, and clusters, therby allowing us explore the variation of star formation at z ˜ 1 with environment. Here, we will present these results and compare them to similar analyses at lower redshift. We will also briefly discuss the challenge of matching objects from GALEX images, which have ˜ 5 - 6 arcsecond resolution, with optical catalogs derived from images with arcsecond or sub-arcsecond resolution.
