The stability of a constant density, self-gravitating system is investigated. The system considered is one-dimensional, collisionless and described by the sheet model. The equilibrium distribution functionF(E), E being the energy, is such that the system has constant density in real space over a finite region. An analytical treatment as well as computer experiment show stability for symmetric disturbances.
