We report on a 8.4GHz VLA snapshot survey of flat-spectrum blazar candidates in the range -40 < DEC < 0. The measured 8.4GHz compact flux allows an improved blazar classification. We also tabulate the compact spectral indices of these sources and select the best gamma-ray candidates. We show images of the more interesting sources; a significant fraction of the sources show resolved jet emission. Many of these sources are unresolved at 30mas scales and are thus suitable southern VLA/VLBA calibrators. This survey, analogous to the CLASS sample, provides useful finder charts for future blazar identification and VLBA jet characterization studies.
