Globular clusters are one of the best laboratories for studying stellar evolution due to their single-age single-metallicity nature. Up until this point, however, no wide-field infrared photometry has been available for globular clusters.
We present new JHKs photometry of the globular cluster M5 obtained with the Irénée du Pont 2.5m telescope and the WIRC camera at Las Campanas Observatory. This photometry covers an area of approximately 26x26 arcminutes, covering a large fraction of the tidal radius of the cluster and extends to a depth beyond the cluster's main sequence turn off.
Combined with optical data from Sandquist et al. (1996), this data provides BVIJHKs coverage over the central 16 arcminutes of the cluster. Using this data set it will be possible to refine stellar evolution codes, stellar atmosphere codes, and learn more about the properties of M5.
