SA 106 1024 was observed as a suspected variable star in a list of broad-band UBVRI photometric standard stars. It is shown to be a delta Scuti star with a period of 0.066686 day. The galactic coordinates are l=351.34 deg and b=52.38 deg (1950.0), placing the star well above the galactic plane. The absolute magnitude is Mv=+2.55, which together with the mean apparent magnitude of 11.58, leads to a distance of some 640 pc. This suggests that it is a member of the young disk population, although the difference between the objective-prism spectral type and the photometric spectral type indicates that it could also be a kind of halo star.
