Attention is given to ISIS-1 and -2 measurements of planetary-scale
electron temperature at heights of 1400 and 3000 km during periods of
high (1969-1970) and low (1971-1973) solar activity. These data are used
to determine the effective rate of plasma heating in the equatorial
upper ionosphere in conditions of medium solar activity.
