Results of a survey carried out on the 1.3 mm continuum emission, from
the circumstellar envelopes of late type stars are presented. Some 26
out of 38 stars are detected including several Mira variables and OH-IR
stars. It is concluded that the emission from the optically visible Mira
variables and semiregulars is photospheric in origin.
