The behavior of the general cosmological solutions of the Einstein field equations at late cosmic times (far from any initial singularity) is investigated analytically, with a focus on three spatially homogeneous vacuum solutions (Lukash, 1975; Collinson and French, 1967; and Ellis and MacCallum, 1969). Stability criteria are derived and applied, and all three models are found to be generic as t goes to infinity in a vacuum and for many perfect-fluid sources. The implications of this finding for the observation of the present structure of the microwave-background temperature anisotropy are indicated.
