Mechanisms for the formation of the probability distributions of geomagnetic pulsations and VLF emissions are compared. It is shown experimentally that the statistical structures of ELF/VLF emissions in the 0.4-8 kHz range and atmospheric noise differs in that the emissions are characterized by a large value of the Nakagami parameter. The nonstationarity character of VLF emissions is examined, and it is hypothesized that hiss and chorus have a common nature.
