Infrared observation of Eta Car at the 3.6 m ESO telescope with the Multiplex coding technique, have revealed the presence of a compact core with a full width at 1/e intensity of ≡0arcsec.13 at 1.25 to 3.7 μm, and 0arcsec.23 at 4.8 μm. This is most likely the inner layer of the dust envelope where the grains start to condense from the intense stellar wind.
