The properties of a compact H II region situated in an area currently referred to as GGD 12-15, have been investigated by means of a CCD image at 0.9 μm, CVF spectrophotometry in the range 1.6 - 2.3 μm and photometry in the K, L, N, and Q bands (2.2 - 20 μm). It is found that the classical picture is applicable; a recently formed early-type star, deeply embedded in a dark cloud (AV ≡ 40), provides the ionization rate for the compact H II region and the luminosity needed to explain the dust emission. Well outside the ionized region the authors observe a relatively bright nebulosity at 2.2 μm, which is possibly caused by the same (unknown) mechanism as that recently observed in reflection nebulae (Sellgren et al., 1983).
