The dwarf stars discovered by Vyssotsky and published by him in four lists have been found to incorporate an apparent bias toward stars with high proper motion. A comparison has been made between the stars in his lists and those found by Stephenson for which photometric data have been obtained and with the stars in Luyten's NLTT Catalogue. Since all of the Vyssotsky stars and the sufficiently bright NLTT stars have been observed photometrically in BVRI colors, the distribution of of each group by magnitude and color is approximately known. The bias arises as a consequence of non-sharp magnitude and color limits to the survey. There is no evidence, however, that the Vyssotsky sample is kinematically biased, or is otherwise not representative of the galactic disk.
