A moving type IV burst of the 'isolated source' type has been detected whose out-of-plane speed, at 1600 km/sec, becomes about 2800 km/sec upon assumption of radial motion; this is twice as high as previously reported speeds for bursts of this type. While shock waves are known to have such high speeds, and a shock wave is likely to form ahead of a high-speed plasmoid, no radio signature has been observed for such a shock. This lack of shock detection may, however, be primarily due to poor observing conditions. Energetic electrons, trapped in an about 1.4 G magnetic field of the plasmoid, can adequately account for the emission.
