The hmF2 obtained by different models is compared with the parabolic peak height hp and with hmF2 from Paul's inversion method. hp compares well with hmF2 derived by any method based on M(3000)F2 while Paul's inversion gives considerably larger heights, in some cases extreme values. The results of the BES method used in the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) are well correlated with those of the methods based on M(3000)F2, much less well with those derived by Paul's inversion technique.
