A linear transformation of a fast magnetoacoustic wave in the vicinity of the Alfven resonance in a finite conductivity medium permeated by a homogeneous magnetic field is examined, assuming that the inclination angle of the magnetic field is close to the critical. A formula is developed showing that, in the vicinity of the Alfven resonance, a partial transformation of a fast magnetoacoustic wave into a damped Alfven wave is taking place. It is shown that the efficiency of transformation decreases with increasing the distance between the point of reflection for a fast magnetoacoustic wave and the point of the Alfven resonance.
