Assuming that the systematic errors in proper motions are represented by spherical-function expansions, analytical expressions are derived showing the influence of different harmonics on the determination of solar motion, Galactic rotation, and precession corrections. The results are extended to the dependence of the systematic errors of the proper motions of stars on stellar magnitude. It is shown that the recently discovered coordinate-dependence of the magnitude of stars in the FK4 catalog does not have a significant effect on the determination of the precession constant and the Galactic-rotation parameters in the system of this catalog.
