United Kingdom Schmidt J Sky Survey plates have been used to look for optical identifications of 34 Parkes radio sources. These were members of an all-sky sample complete to 2 Jy at 2.7 GHz for which no previous reliable identifications were available. Fourteen definite identifications and 11 sources remain unidentified. For the remaining nine sources, the correct identification is uncertain due to a combination of an inaccurate radio position and a high background density of confusing objects. Previous analyses of association probabilities are extended to deal with the present case of an inhomogeneous sample. The results are briefly discussed in terms of the identification content of the whole sample.
