The magnitude of the irregularities in lunar rotation caused by the direct attraction of the planets is estimated. The theoretical solution based on the physical libration components in a selenographic coordinate system is presented. The derived direct planetary influence on the rotation of the moon is about 30 times smaller than the current precision of lunar laser ranging and is thus negligible. The greatest terms, 0.001 arcsec and -0.001 arcsec in librations rho and I-sigma, are caused by the orbital inclination of Venus.
