The Geminga gamma-ray source (1E 0630 + 178) is characterized uniquely by a high L(x)/L(v) value (about 1300 in the case of optical identification, or more otherwise), the pointlike appearance of the HRI source, and the absence of any known radio pulsar at its position. It is suggested that the unique X-ray source properties of the Geminga indicate its association with the COS-B high-energy gamma-ray source. From the standpoint of the astrophysical nature of the object it is identified as a pulsar, or a neutron star, regardless of its time-invariability in all respects.
