A study is made of the ionization equilibrium of the elements H, He, C,
N, O, Ne, Mg, Si, S in a low-density gas. The ionic composition of such
a gas at less than 1 million K depends strongly on the charge-exchange
reactions. Tables of the ionic composition in the temperature range
100,000-1,000,000 K are given.
