The biconical nebula S 106 has a kinematic structure strongly suggestive of the interaction between a stellar wind and a surrounding nonhomogeneous gas distribution. The interaction is modeled as that of a steady wind from an early-type star with a symmetric exponentially decreasing gas distribution. The model can be fitted to the observations if it is assumed that the open ends of the lobes result from a blow-out of shocked stellar wind gas. The exciting star requires a Lyman continuum photon output rate of about 10 to the 47th - 10 to the 48th per s and a mechanical luminosity of about 10 to the 35th erg/s to account for observed parameters of S 106. These values are consistent with those measured for stars of spectral types O9.5V-B0V. This predicted spectral type is in excellent agreement with that deduced from infrared data.
