Consideration is given to the Einstein equivalence principle in connection with processes occurring in accelerated detectors of elementary particles. It is shown that vacuum (zero-point) field fluctuations do not violate the equivalence principle, and that from the behavior of the detector it is not possible to determine whether it is located in a uniform gravitational field or whether it is moving with uniform acceleration in Minkowski space. As an example, attention is given to a quantum detector in the gravitational field of a black hole.
