Various relativistic aspects related with Earth's rotation are reviewed:the BCRS and GCRS as basic reference systems, local and global equations of motion that are presented in terms of mass- and spin-multipole moments. The present status of post-Newtonian theory of elasticity and its application to global geodynamics is discussed as well as concrete plans to improve the present high-precision Newtonian nutation theories for a rigid Earth to make it compatible with relativity in the frame of a rigidly rotating multipole model.
