In this paper we show some results concerning bubbles and voids in the universe. First, we deal with general results in which spherically symmetric bubbles and voids are allowed to possess electromagnetic fields, null radiation and/or a cosmological constant, while the universe is only geometrically constrained to possess spherical symmetry. From here, we infer constraints for the generation of bubbles or voids by means of a phase transition and conditions for their superficial radial pressures. Then, we treat the most frequent case in literature in detail, which corresponds to a Robertson Walker universe, possessing (or not) a cosmological constant, developing bubbles or voids. The general results from these models are also reported, with special emphasis on the consequences for the inflationary ones. Moreover, some new and interesting examples are treated in detail to show the main characteristics and possibilities from these models.
