The scattering of X-ray photons in the resonance lines of highly charged ions of heavy elements can lead to a significant distortion of the surface brightness distribution of galaxy clusters in these lines. If this effect is ignored in the interpretation of experimental data, heavy element abundances in intergalactic gas are systematically underestimated. A list is presented of the brightest lines situated near the resonance lines of heliumlike, hydrogenlike, and lithiumlike iron.
