A method is outlined by which observations of astrophysical jets may be
interpreted to deduce the pressure variation in the medium surrounding
the jet. Use is made of a numerical scheme for modelling steady
supersonic flows which is capable of giving the internal flow conditions
that exist along the length of a jet.
