The paper presents a model explaining powerful iron line emission as gaseous shell fluorescence at the Alfven surface. Gas parameters in Alfven shells are analyzed, and thermal balance and ionization equilibrium are outlined. The equivalent width of an iron line is discussed, along with its profile. Consideration is given to soft X-ray emission and iron line emission in other X-ray binaries.
