The chemical composition of a 1.8 Msolar star is modified thereby changing its opacity profile. The sensitivity of the predicted overstability to the abundance of heavy elements is estimated. The results show that the growth rates are not very sensitive to changes in individual elements. However, variations in groups of elements, as in λ Bootis stars, can lead to substantial differences in the predicted stability of the modes.
