Detection in the dark cloud TMC1 (a low velocity dispersion source at right ascension 4 h 38 m 38 s and declination 25 deg 35 min 45 sec, 1950 coordinates) of the J-9/2-7/2 transition of C5H, the radical recently discovered by Cernicharo et al. (1986), is reported. The hyperfine structure of this reactive species is resolved for the first time. Values of the magnetic hyperfine parameters a-(b+c)/2 and d are derived, and the C5H column density is estimated.
