High-resolution circular polarization and line profiles, across the Fe II lambda 4520.2 line of 78 Vir, are computer modeled in the framework of the oblique rotator model. The observations are reproduced very well with an inclined dipolar geometry that contains a moderate quadrupolar component. The model found is consistent with all the information we have about the magnetic field of 78 Vir. The oblique rotator model thus appears to have passed another direct test.
