The conclusions of a paper by Oblak (1978) about the consistency of
absolute luminosity calibrations as deduced from a study of binaries,
should be carefully evaluated. Three points are more particularly
considered here: the relevance of the method, the way various
calibrations have been applied, and the lack of an error discussion.
