The 1.7-day light curve of the binary star HZ Herculis has shown dramatic variations on a time scale of years. In the present paper, results of UBV photometric observations of HZ Her obtained in August 1978 in order to monitor the long-time-scale nonperiodic variability of the system are reported. Magnitudes and phases of minimum and maximum light observed reveal the system to be in an active state similar to that of 1972. It is concluded that, with the exception of possible short periods of inactivity, the present active state of HZ Her has lasted considerably longer than previous ones.
