The influence of stellar wind mass loss on the evolution of the rotational velocity of O type main sequence stars is investigated. Calculations are performed for masses ranging from 15 to 100 solar masses. Two limiting rotation models with conservation of angular momentum are adopted: rigid rotation and differential rotation with no viscous coupling between successive spherical shells. It is found that stellar wind mass loss leads to a decrease of rotational velocity, with high mass loss rates resulting in very small final values of rotational velocity. The results are compared with observations of O type stars.
