We present some preliminary results of current efforts to refine and improve the classical models used for the reduction and analysis of data from visual meteor observers. These include a detailed analysis of the radiant altitude correction factor, K; a refinement to the determination of the visual meteor probability function, P(m); and ongoing steps to produce a more accurate model for the limiting magnitude (LM) correction factor, C.
