Spectra with a resolution of 2 A covering the wavelength range 3550-4650 A, of the close QSO pair Q1548 + 114A,B have been obtained. Shaver and Robertson's (1985) result that Mg II 2800-A absorption at Z(abs) = 0.4293 is not present in the spectrum of Q1548 + 114B as earlier claimed by Burbidge et al. (1977). It is also confirmed that a group of lines in the wavelength range 4030-4060 A are not five line-locked C IV doublets. Following Shaver and Robertson, an emission line at 4500-A in the spectrum of Q1548 + 114A, which coincides with the C IV 1549 A emission line in the spectrum of Q1548 + 114B, is identified as O III 3134 A.
