Tentative results of solar observations conducted with the CERGA (Geodynamical and Astronomical Research Center) astrolabe are reported. The sun was observed with the upper and lower limbs crossing the reference almucantar, and transit times of each solar limb were obtained as the tangent lined up parallel to eyepiece reference wire. The apparent solar semi-diameter and the zenith distance are added or subtracted when the coordinates of the sun's center are used; otherwise the reduction method repeats that used on the planets. Latitude, longitude, and zenith distance were obtained from observations of the star field. Constant zenith distance is assumed to simplify calculations. A glass plate coated externally with a thin nickel chrome layer was employed in the work.
