The classical theories of the motion of the sun, moon, and planets represent an analytical method of high accuracy which can be used for the transformation of geocentric to barycentric radial velocities. In the present paper, the contribution of all direct and indirect periodic perturbations by the moon and the planets to the barycentric motion of earth is studied. Computer programs based on the classical theories were developed which use essentially only a Julian ephemeris date as input and generate a position-velocity vector as output. Their results were compared with the JPL development ephemerides DE 28 and DE 69 over time intervals of 100 years and 14 years, respectively. The maximum residuals are about 1 millionth AU in position and 4-5 cm/s in velocity.
