Contributions made by the flights of the Mariner, Venera, Viking, Uhuru, ESRO TD-1A, OSO-3, SAS-2, COS-B, Ranger, Surveyor, Luna, and Lunar Orbiter series of satellites and deep space probes are mentioned, and future plans for the IFAS (Netherlands infrared astronomical satellite) and Space Shuttle are indicated.
