Recent observations of apparent radio and X-ray variability provide evidence for continuing activity in the radio galaxy Cen A. The possibility is considered that the new data indicate the presence of a massive black hole in the nucleus of the galaxy. It is pointed out that a black hole appears to be the likely endpoint for the evolution of a supermassive star or dense star cluster. Attention is given to the accretion on the massive black holes, questions of quasi-spherical accretion, and the radio source in the nucleus.
