The method of power spectrum analysis (PSA) is developed as a sensitive test for possible weak clustering of extragalactic radio sources. When conducting a test, the positions of sources on the celestial sphere are projected on to a plane and then analyzed using a Fourier PSA, which may be employed to investigate the statistical properties of any number of points lying within a rectangular volume of space having any number of dimensions. The one-dimensional and two-dimensional tests are described, the two clustering statistics are defined, and the flexibility of the method is discussed. The PSA test is shown to be more sensitive and flexible than either the nearest-neighbor or the binning analysis. The test is then applied to the 4C, GB, and MC1 surveys, but no evidence of clustering is found. However, anticlustering (i.e., a smoother-than-random distribution of sources) is observed for the 4C and GB sources, but this is shown to be an instrumental effect. The results are compared with previous analyses of the same surveys, a rigorous limit is placed on the average number of radio sources in any hypothetical clusters, and it is inferred that the Universe is not clustered or clumped in any way on very large linear scales (100 to 5000 Mpc).
