Model spectra for OH and H2O maser emission associated with infrared stars are constructed under the assumption of total saturation and on the basis of a symmetrically expanding envelope. The OH abundance in the circumstellar envelope is controlled by grain surface reactions in the outer region where chemical exchange reactions have ceased to operate. Observable quantities such as line shapes and angular sizes are related to the pumping parameters. The difficulty of producing an OH emission peak at the stellar velocity and the lack of a means of effectively blocking the maser emission from the far side of the envelope are also demonstrated.
