Transition probabilities and weighted oscillator strengths are calculated in intermediate coupling for Be I, C III, O V, Ne VII, Mg IX, Si XI, S XIII, Ca XVII, Fe XXIII, and Ni XXV. The probabilities are for electric and magnetic dipole transitions (including intercombination) as well as for electric and magnetic quadrupole transitions. The reliability of the transition probabilities for C III is discussed with particular attention given to the effect of cascades on lifetime determinations in beam-foil experiments. It is concluded that the probabilities for the two C III transitions at 977.1176 A are known with accuracies of better than 10%.
