We have completed a series of five paleotectonic maps that shows fault and ridge systems in the Thaumasia region as they prevailed during successive geologic periods. These structures have been classified chronologically by noting their age relative to rock units, which were dated by crater counts and by crosscutting relations. Five geologic stages were chosen based on major geologic periods defined by an unpublished 1:5,000,000-scale geologic map of the Thaumasia region. These stages are defined by sets of geologic units, and, based on the unit age ranges, we conservatively show slight overlaps between the stages. Here, we discuss the history of each major tectonic feature and structure set in the Thaumasia region.
