Massive stars in various stages, OB stars, blue-, red-supergiants, Wolf-Rayet stars are important for the exploration of the deep universe. The successes and problems of massive star evolution will be reviewed. Massive star formation with accretion disks is leading to new results for the tracks and lifetimes, which are more than an order of magnitude longer than the Kelvin-Helmholtz timescales. Recent observations support the accretion scenario. For post-MS evolution, several features are well accounted for, in particular the chemical abundances and number statistics of O-stars. WN, WC and WO stars, a result which is most useful for the study of distant starbursts. About difficulties, they mainly concern the CNO enrichments of supergiants, which is generally larger than predicted by standard models. Also, observations in low metallicity galaxies reveal more red supergiants than currently predicted. New results of stellar models including a detailed treatment of rotation are very promising in this respect and will be shown. This is of particular importance in view of recent results suggesting faster rotation in OB stars at lower metallicities.
